First Crafts! Thanks Sweetaprils

So I begin my crafty journey with a diaper cake and snack! My friend's having a baby, and for her shower, I was put in charge of a snack. I also wanted to get her something nice, and thought about a diaper cake! When I googled Diaper Cake for boys, Sweetaprils (http://www.sweetaprils.com/) blog appeared, and I thought they were SOOO cute! So I decided to try!
I began at Target, and replaced Swaddlers for the Target brand infant diapers (I'm a teacher, you know!) and replaced the milk/formula bottle with a baby powder bottle.
Instead of using pins to keep the ribbon around the diapers, I used a hot glue gun (favorite crafty item) to secure the ribbon's ends, without glueing the ribbon to the diaper!
     So, here's the final product!

I also need to bring a snack, so I thought about a pacifier-shaped snack. I've seen the LifeSaver treats, but they aren't edible. I began to think about a chocolate covered pretzel with an M & M, but couldn't figure out the loop. While at Target...I saw Twizzler Pull n Peel's, and thought it would be perfect! Target was also out of almond bark, so I subbed in white chocolate chips.
I melted the chocolate chips with some blue food coloring in a double boiler. While waiting for the chips to melt, I cut up the Pull n Peels:

The chips didn't melt so well...so I added in a little skim milk. Then it melted! I covered the pretzels in blue chocolate, put them on wax paper, and then put the Pull n Peel on, as well as the M & M. It didn't stick...so I added more chocolate mixture, then tried again! Success! Sloppy, but success! I put them in the fridge to set, and once they were set up, I removed them from the wax paper. This picture is BEFORE they were taken off the first sheet of wax paper, so they're sloppy, but cute:

I think my friend's really going to enjoy her baby shower! Stay tuned for pictures of the ducky punch! :)

First Post :)

Well, here I am...creating my own blog! I have decided to create one to document a few things...great ideas for the classroom, great ideas for those who love (easy) crafts, and ideas for entertaining.
Enjoy!
